BACKING KAROLINE. Hampton Falls Selectman and business owner Lou Gargiulo has signed on as a supporter of 1st Congressional District U.S. House candidate Karoline Leavitt. He’s the second of three 2020 Donald Trump New Hampshire campaign co-chairs to back the Hampton conservative, joining state Rep. Al Baldasaro of Londonderry. Gargiulo was also a New Hampshire co-chair of Trump’s campaign in 2016 and was a Trump delegate to the Republican national conventions of 2016 and 2020. All six of the Republican candidates in the 1st District race are avowed supporters of Trump. Leavitt and 2020 nominee Matt Mowers worked in the Trump administration. Both are viewed as the frontrunners for an eventual Trump endorsement in the congressional primary – if he decides to weigh in on the race. The primary winner is likely to take on Democratic U.S. Rep. Chris Pappas in November 2022. Pappas has filed a declaration of candidacy to run for a third term. Gargiulo said: “Karoline is a New Hampshire native who will fight to preserve our ‘Live Free or Die’ values by advancing the America First agenda in the U.S. House of Representatives. Karoline has the energy and fighting spirit necessary to beat Chris Pappas and win in the general election next November, and I am honored to support her campaign.”
